Office Hours: The Hearing Doctor family is in the office Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. We answer our phones all day except for when we take a short lunch break which is generally from 12:30-1:00 pm. If you get the answering service then Keli, Melody, or Paula are assisting other patients on the phone and will call you back as soon as they are done. If you call during regular office hours and are forwarded to our answering machine please leave a message for us!  Early morning, evening, & Saturday appointments are available as needed by prior  arrangement. Our family enjoys spending time together just as you and yours do and we will be closed on all major holidays. The answering service is checked regularly during holidays though, so if you have an emergency leave a message and we will return your call as quickly as we can!

Insurance/Payment: The Hearing Doctor accepts most of the major medical insurance plans such as United Healthcare, BlueCross BlueShield, PHCS,1st Health, and Medicare. Copays are expected at time of service. We offer sliding scale fees for patients without insurance or who prefer to pay out of pocket. The Hearing Doctor accepts Visa, MasterCard, checks, and cash. A financing program is available for hearing aid purchases through the HELP card health care financing program. They offer various plans and monthly payments to make large investments easier to handle without tying up your major credit cards. We are an     IN-NETWORK Authorized Provider for AMERICAN AIRLINES/United Healthcare. Many providers can bill for American Airlines beneficiaries but if they are not part of the special hearing aid contracted providers they will end up billing you for the balance, typically costing you $1000-$2000 that you wouldn't have with a contract provider. With our In Network contract most American Airlines patients pay only their specialist office visit copay for services including hearing aids.

Don't be afraid to ask questions!   We welcome Emails with questions/concerns you may have about you or a family members hearing loss & communication difficulties or special situations. Email The Hearing Doctor at thehearingdoctor@tulsacoxmail.com

Dr. Vowell won't bite like the tropcial bird she is next to and she won't harass you the way she is poking at this Oregon trail slug! There is no slimy slug treatment at The Hearing Doctor!

Appointments: It is wise to allow adeguate time for any doctor's office appointment. Knowing how long it will take for every patient is impossible. Just as it is not possible to time the exact amount of minutes it takes to go to the grocery store, check out at Wal-Mart, the length of a storm, or the amount of time it may take to get a child to cooperate- it really is not realistic to put a timer on each appointment at a doctor's office. The Hearing Doctor office is a "No Herding" zone! There are offices designed to get patients in and out in 5 minutes but those facilities cannot provide an adequate evaluation or solution to a patient problem/need. Dr. Vowell is unique for giving every single patient the time, work, and enthusiasm that is comprehensive and thorough We understand when something comes up and you may need to leave and reschedule, or have an emergency. Accomodations for rescheduling are welcomed. We make every effort to estimate how long it takes to cover why you are seeing Dr. Vowell, but unforseen delays can occur with equipment or hearing aid malfunctions and any other number of inavoidable delays. We do have WIFI available for patients, so bring your laptop and in the event you have to wait a little while you can surf the web, get some work done, take a nap, wander the office to look at all the autographed memorabilia, or watch television in our comfortable waiting room.

We also offer a variety of beverages and snacks for your comfort while you wait, just ask Keli what the daily selections are as we change them in order to keep you surprised! Sorry, but the wine barrel and wine crates you see in the back of the office are all empty!!

The Hearing Doctor office is warm, inviting, & completely unique according to all of our patients! The first thing you notice about the office when you walk in is the sense of stepping into a home. The atmosphere is inviting & friendly…and then you notice all the autographed sports, politics, movies, & music memorabilia everywhere! From our own OU, OSU, and TU teams to Fleetwood Mac, US Presidents, & Phantom of the Opera…there is something for everyone and all types of interests to enjoy! Dr. Vowell designed the office for her patients to feel “at home” and not in an impersonal medical environment. Dr. Vowell jokes that the office comes complete with the “messy” room we all like to shut the door on…that’s her office! There is even “Mum” around frequently to solve problems that arise!
